Working with FireWise of Southwest Colorado (now Wildfire Adapted Partnership), we found survey respondents from two fire protection districts in Archuleta County, Colorado stated that homeowner association restrictions on cutting trees and physical difficulty of completing risk reduction actions were the most significant barriers to reducing risk on their property. When asked what would motivate residents to take action to reduce wildfire risk, respondents stated that specific information about how to reduce risk, help doing the work, and financial assistance are the top three items.
