Even in relatively urban settings, wildfire can threaten the homes in a community. WiRē teamed up with Ashland Fire and Rescue (AFR) to combine AFR data on wildfire risk with newly collected WiRē data on the wildfire-related perceptions of residents living in Ashland. WiRē analysis of these data lends insight into how AFR can tailor their outreach to increase adoption of wildfire risk mitigation activities. The findings include that most respondents agreed or strongly agreed that their property is at risk of wildfire and most do not agree that firefighters should put their lives at risk to protect their home.
