The Washington State Academy of Sciences invited WiRē Team member Patty Champ to present at their symposium on Wildfire in Washington State. The presentation in the Wildfire Economics session described results from a recent WiRē project with Chelan County Fire District 1 in Wenactchee. The results underscored the diversity of WUI communities in the Squilchuck Drainage, and the need for efforts to reduce wildfire risk to be tailored to local communities using social science.
